Giant Eagle to host COVID vaccine clinic for Pittsburgh Public Schools at Heinz Field

Giant Eagle has been hosting COVID-19 vaccine clinics at Heinz Field since March 2 and recently extended the clinic to March 10.

Now they're reserving two additional days for Pittsburgh Public Schools to help with the state's plan to vaccinate teachers, school staff and child care workers in the state.

PPS is the largest school district in western Pennsylvania.

Giant Eagle expects up to 3,000 teachers and staff to receive their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine during the two days. Those that do receive it will also receive the second dose 21 days after the first.

The district is working to schedule appointments for teachers and staff that aren't part of the state's initial Johnson & Johnson rollout.

Giant Eagle Pharmacy is looking to open up vaccination at the Heinz Field clinic to all western Pennsylvania teachers and staff by March 15.

The pharmacy says all second doses scheduled at Heinz Field remain as scheduled and all people who have received their first dose at the clinic will receive their second dose at the facility.
