Giant Eagle is joining a growing list of major retailers closing its stores on Thanksgiving Day.

The grocery chain says it is giving workers the opportunity to enjoy the holiday with their families.
The company says all Giant Eagle, Market District, and GetGo locations will be closed the 25th as well as its transportation and retail support centers.
“Our Team Members have been working tirelessly to provide a safe shopping environment for our guests while ensuring access to essential food, fuel and medicines. We cannot thank them enough for the dedication they have shown day in and day out,” said Giant Eagle Spokesperson Jannah Jablonowski. “Our decision to close on Thanksgiving will allow all of our Team Members and truck drivers well-deserved time to rest, recharge and enjoy the holiday with their families.”
All locations reopen on Friday the 26th.
A Giant Eagle representative adds that despite the global supply chain issues, Giant Eagle says they will have turkeys, canned pumpkins and all the other Thanksgiving necessities.
