After a horrific crash last month, a Pittsburgh-area high school football player has to relearn how to do everything.
Gary Wingold was coming home from Grove City on May 12 when the car he was in was hit by two different vehicles.
He was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital in Youngstown, Ohio and then later transferred to UPMC Children’s Hospital with traumatic brain injury.
Fortunately, he survived and is out of the ICU but Gary now has to relearn how to eat, walk and even swallow.
With Gary needing assistance around the clock, his parents have been unable to work.
To help with Gary’s recover, a GoFundMe has been started.
Gary’s mom says all donations are going directly to:
* Medical expenses: Beyond what insurance may cover, including specialized treatments and future rehabilitation.
* Living expenses: To help us cover rent, utilities, food, and other basic necessities while we are unable to work.
* Travel and accommodation: For our family to remain close to Gary during his long recovery.
A member of the North Hills Football team, Gary also enjoys hunting and fishing.
Gary’s mother Antoinette tells KDKA Radio if you’re unable to donate, prayers always help!
