A report on NewsRadio KDKA suggested it was recently "Bring Your Gun To the Airport" week at Pittsburgh International.
Three guns were detected at the TSA checkpoint last week and another was discovered Thursday morning.
The airport is on track to set a new record for stopped weapons with three months to go in 2023.
A Transportation Security Administration spokesperson says news stories about each firearm that's seized and fines as high as $15,000 aren't reaching enough people.
In response, sheriffs in all 67 of Pennsylvania's counties will send permit holders information about traveling with a firearm.
The easy to understand, short version is: Just don't do it. Guns are not allowed in airplane cabins, period. Even if you have a permit to conceal and carry it. The weapon must be secure and inside checked baggage.
Educating gun owners is a good start, but there's something TSA isn't doing that might help get the word out: Making the gun owner's name and photo public.
