PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) — On Saturday, Jan. 30 at 7:15 a.m., police, fire departments, and EMS reported to a two-car collision on Route 28.
The collision occurred near the East Ohio Street exit after a head-on crash involving a driver going in the wrong direction.
Upon arrival, first responders found one of the vehicles up in flames.
The driver of the burning car was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second driver was also pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital in critical condition.
Route 28 southbound was closed off to traffic between the 31st Street Bridge and the East Ohio Street exit.
The Collision Investigation Unit has since arrived at the scene and begun an investigation into the cause.
