Pittsburgh's Headlines: July 17, 2026

A popular restaurant in Pittsburgh is under Consumer Alert after a recent inspection by the Allegheny County Health Department.

An inspection shows The Yard Gastropub on 5th Avenue in Downtown Pittsburgh was hit with two violations, one high-risk, the other, medium-risk.

The high-risk violation is due to multiple food items found measured above the safe, cold-holding temperature of 41 degrees or lower.

They include tomatoes and fresh mozzarella at 42 degrees and cream cheese at 46 degrees in a prep table.

Another prep table had sliced tomatoes and “2 large containers of eggplant parm” temped at 45 degrees. Those items were thrown away.

In a drawer style cooler underneath a flat-top several items of raw steak, burgers, chicken and meatball were temped between 46050 degrees. All of those items were thrown away.

In a walk-in cooler, slicked tomatoes, cooked macaroni, dressings and bacon were above the save-holding zone. All of those items were thrown away.

The ambient air temperature of the walk-in cooler was 51 degrees at the time of inspection with the walk-in keg cooler measuring at 50 degrees.

The inspection report states a complaint inspection was conducted on Tuesday with a follow-up on Thursday and that the cold-holding violations were not corrected during reinspection.

The restaurant has 10 days to correct the issues or will be ordered closed.
