A bar inside a local hotel is under Consumer Alert after an inspection by the Allegheny County Health Department.
According to an inspection report, the Traveler’s Tap, located in the Comfort Inn on Gamma Driver off Route 28 near RIDC Drive had an imminent hazard after Monday’s inspection.
Inspectors say the active sewage backup is “in the breakfast prep, dishwashing area and storage area and part of main kitchen.”
The Health Department says that no food prep or food service (including coffee-making) can take place until the backup has been resolved and the area cleaned and sanitized.
The bar is allowed to continue to operate but “the kitchen may not be accessed for ice or any other purpose.”
The Health Department says the facility also failed to report the situation, and was cited for that.
Inspectors say a reinspection will happen within 10 days. If backup is not corrected, the facility will be ordered closed.
Any updates to the bar's status will be posted on the Health Department's website.
