A blast from Pittsburgh’s past is making a comeback, thanks to the hard work of one man.
Jason Powell says he’s about a month or two away from debuting his “Hills Snack Bar” food truck.
“Like most people who ever shopped at a Hills store as a young kid, it left an everlasting impression on me. I loved going there to shop with my parents and grandparents as a kid,” Powell told KDKA Radio.
Powell wants the food they offer to be as authentic as possible.
He’s partnered with the same supplier of the original Hills Snack Bar and plans to have hot dogs, soft pretzels, nachos, cotton candy and more.
Powell gave and update earlier this week, saying they now have an ICEE machine installed.

While he was hoping to be up and operational by now, he says the cost a little bit higher than expected but says that’s okay.
“I would rather pay up front to do it right from the beginning than to take short cuts, even if that means delaying our start,” said Powell.
Powell also needs to get a few more pieces of equipment and then apply for the proper permits.
After that, expect the Hills Food Truck to start rolling around the Pittsburgh area taking you back to the past.
