The community of Mt. Lebanon is dealing with deep trauma after an apparent murder/suicide on Tuesday afternoon.

Allegheny County Police say 42-year-old Patrick Lynch threw his 8-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter off of a parking garage on Florida Avenue and then jumped himself.

The mother of the two children posted on social media after the incident, “before the media jumps to conclusions.

Anna DeMase Lynch posted, in full”

My husband made the irreversible decision to kill our two children and himself this evening. Before the media jumps to conclusions, he was a wonderful dad. He was laid off in August and shortly after became depressed. I suggested he to go to a therapist, which he agreed to go to and had an appointed booked for 11/4. One day too late. Please check on your loved ones. I never thought this is how our story would end. Rest in peace my angels. James may you ski all the bowls and Caroline may you eat all the skittles and play in your own castle made of slim. Best friends forever.

All other schools in the district are operating as normal, but parents can keep their children home on Wednesday and it will be an excused absence.

Honey Bee Haven wrote on social media, in part, “Caroline was one of our own. She was a beloved part of our Honey Bee Haven family, and we loved her and her brother deeply. Her loss is something we cannot begin to comprehend, and our hearts are broken.”
