How the winter storm will impact the Pittsburgh area

AccuWeather predicts 3 to 6 inches around Pittsburgh. More south, less north

The storm that has been predicted throughout the weekend will arrive early Monday morning.

AccuWeather tells KDKA Radio that snowfall will begin sometime after midnight and continue into mid-day.

3 to 6 inches of snow will fall in the Pittsburgh area, more will fall south of the city with less to the north.

“Heaviest tomorrow morning through at least the early afternoon,” said AccuWeather meteorologist Matt Benz.

Toward I-80 there could be little to not snow, south toward Maryland there could be 6 to 10 inches of snow.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Allegheny and Indiana Counties from 7 p.m. Sunday through 7 p.m. Monday.

Washington, Greene, Fayette and Westmoreland Counties are under a Winter Storm Warning from 7 p.m. Sunday until 7 p.m. Monday.

Allegheny County will deploy 28 salt truck with plows when the snow starts falling.

With low wind chills, the county is treating sale with liquid calcium chloride to help melt the snow faster.

Allegheny County only plows County roads. The City of Pittsburgh, PennDOT and local municipalities will also be treating their roads. You can see who plows yours HERE.
