Humane Animal Rescue to host virtual winter event for children

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) — On Thursday, the Humane Animal Rescue announced an event for kids over the holiday break: the "Virtual Winter Camp," which is "a fun, interactive program all about animals."

The Humane Animal Rescue will hold the event during the three days of Dec. 28, 29, and 30.

And each day will host two sessions apiece: the first for first- through third-graders and the second for fourth- through sixth-graders.

The classes are currently set up as followed:

Campers in grades 1 – 3 will learn about animal senses on Dec. 28, explore animal superheroes on Dec. 29 and solve an animal mystery on Dec. 30. Each session will be held from 10 a.m. to noon.

Campers in grades 4 – 6 will learn about animal art on Dec. 28, go on a road trip on Dec. 29 and become a conservationist on Dec. 30. Learning will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Each session will feature "animal ambassadors" from the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.

Children are welcome to sign up for any or all three sessions.

Children who register will receive an activity kit for the events.

Each day will run at $30, but there is a $15 discount for those who sign up for all three days.

Participants must be able to join Zoom for the events.
