Want to own a piece of Pittsburgh history?

The historic piers from the former Wabash Bridge are up for sale.
Yes, those huge stone towers that stand about 45 feet above the Monongahela River.
The piers date back to the early 20th century.
A.J. Pantoni, director of industrial services for Hanna Langholz Wilson Ellis, Hanna Commercial Real Estate, is in charge of selling the piers.
“It has a storied history, the Gould family put the Wasbash into Pittsburgh and had contracts with Andrew Carnegie and when J.P. Morgan buys Andrew Carnegie out, he voids the contracts and Wabash Railroads goes bankrupt in 1908.
He declined to say how much the piers may sell for, but he tells NewsRadio KDKA, “we expect it will be somewhere in the mid-six figures.”
Pantoni says they're gotten some good offers so far, and are in the process of negotiating a final sale price.
The piers may be used for advertising but Pantoni hopes it’s something that enhances the river.
“Whether it’s a marina or anything that all that would tie into the river life, that would really be great because the owner was a river man, spent his entire life working all three rivers,” said Pantoni.
He said he's even received calls from people looking to use them for climbing walls.
Here is a concept for the pier near Station Square back in 1958.
