Indian restaurant in Pittsburgh area ordered closed by health department

One of the locations of the Masala House Indian Bistro has been ordered closed by the Allegheny County Health Department.

The location is on the 500 block of Washington Avenue in Bridgeville.

Some of the high-risk violations observed by inspectors is food stored on the floor of a walk-in cooler with waste water present. Food was also stored on the floor in dry storage with waste water on the floor.

Another high-risk violation was a dish washer back-up, making it unable to wash, rinse and sanitize

There were nine violations in total.

The closure was posted on December 5 and as of December 8, is still on the Health Department’s website.

The Masala House locations on Baum Boulevard in Pittsburgh and on West Chestnut Street in Washington are not affected.
