A group which claims responsibility for targeting several Israeli water systems last month, has apparently attacked a water station in Beaver County.

The Iranian-backed group Cyber Av3ngers hacked an Aliquippa water station that regulates water pressure and flow for Raccoon and Potter Townships.

Aliquippa Mayor Dwan Walker says the plant was taken off line and everything is being done manually.

He adds that there is no danger to the public or the water supply.

The incident is being investigated by multiple agencies including the FBI.

It’s the latest move by pro-Iran hackers as concerns grow about the security of the United States’ infrastructure.

Local Congressman Chris Deluzio released a statement after the incident.

“I intend to push for a full investigation here and accountability for the attackers, and I will continue the important bipartisan work on the House Armed Services Cyber, Information Technologies, and Innovation (CITI) Subcommittee to shore up America's defenses.”
