A family-owned Italian restaurant in Robinson Township recently and quietly celebrated 45 years of business.
Juliano’s on Steubenville Pike was the brainchild of Italian immigrant Guy Scalise. Today, his son Nick carries on the tradition of a family owned, community-oriented restaurant.
The story of Juliano’s started with an ice cream truck.
Guy drove around Oakland and surrounding areas, selling frozen treats to those who needed to cool off.
In 1978, Dari Delite opened in Robinson Township.
Nick was there for the opening but had to leave three weeks later. He left to serve his country in the United States Air Force.
Nick returned in the early 80s and by 1983, Dari Delite was Juliano’s.
Nick says he’s grateful for his sons Guy and Nico, his wife Roseanne, mother Grace and sister Nancy.
Guy tragically died while working on repairs at Juliano’s in 2008. He was like a grandfather to many who knew him. Nick has also carried on the tradition, serving as a mentor to his employees.
“Nick treats every costumer the same,” said Andrew Limberg, a former, long-time employee at Juliano’s. “He goes out of his way to treat his customers like family. He also treats his employees with respect something you don’t see a lot, especially when there are a lot of younger employees involved.”
They also serve homemade pasta, wings, salads, hoagies and more.
Juliano’s goal is to “Treat everyone like family from Italy” and for 45 years the independent pizza place has done just that.
Juliano's has won numerous national and local awards.
They officially celebrated 45 years on October 4, 2023.
