Pittsburgh Labor Day Parade canceled for second straight year

COVID

With a new rise in COVID cases, it was decided that Pittsburgh’s Labor Day Parade be canceled for the second year the second consecutive year.

The decision was made by leaders with the Allegheny-Fayette Central Labor Council and are officials.

The parade was cancelled for 2020 due to a rise in cases of COVID-19, now in 2021 it is the same reason.

Despite widespread vaccination efforts and over a year of fighting the virus, the new delta variant has begun a spread of its own, forcing the cancelation.

Given the nature of the parade, being focused on families and large crowds coming together, the City of Pittsburgh decided it would be safest to cancel the popular event.

Other than the parade, Labor Day services will still take place.

A blood drive and park cleanups are still on the schedule.

Everyone is hopeful the parade can make its long awaited return next year, in 2022
