State Police say the lost cat Elizabeth Pollard was looking for when she fell into a sinkhole in Westmoreland County has been spotted.

Someone saw Pepper Wednesday night but Trooper Steve Limani is asking people to stop searching for the cat because the area around Monday's Union Restaurant in Unity Township is unsafe.

Troopers say Pepper is okay and they will be working with professional animal trappers to track and hopefully recover the cat.

Pollard’s body was found earlier this month.

The area Ms. Pollard was searching was above an old, abandoned coal mine and fell about 30 feet.

Pollard’s granddaughter was reunited with State Troopers recently, when police took the young girl shopping as part of their “Shop with a Cop” campaign.

Troopers take children that have gone through trauma shopping for toys during the events.
