Sky watchers in the Pittsburgh area have a chance to see a rare lunar eclipse Thursday night.
The partial eclipse begins around 10:30 p.m., with the peak at 12:12 a.m. Friday.
About ninety-six percent of the moon will be covered by Earth’s shadow, giving it a coppery-red appearance.
Most of North and South America will have a good view, and about 12 percent of the world’s population will see the entire eclipse from beginning to end.
In Pittsburgh, it will remain visible until about 3a.m.
AccuWeather says there could be some partly cloudy skies during eclipse.
