Voters in two southern Butler County communities will decide in November whether or not to merge.
Mars Council voted 6-1 Monday night to approve a merger agreement with Adams Township.
On the Big K Morning Show, Mars Council President Mike Fleming talked about the well-attended meeting.
“The discussion was good,” said Fleming. “Everybody there certainly had the opportunity to speak and I think overall they left well-satisfied with the responses.”
If approved, Mars residents would see significantly lower taxes.
But some residents in Adams are asking if their taxes will go up as a result.
Board of Supervisors Chair Russ Ford says no.
The merger referendum needs approval from a majority of voters in both communities.
Election day is Tuesday, November 3.
