There is an update on the masking policy at UPMC.
A UPMC spokesperson says the health system's policy now states that masks are "strongly encouraged" as flu, Covid and RSV cases are on the rise.
The policy going into effect Wednesday had been worded “everyone in our health care facilities will wear effective masks."
No word on what prompted the change.
