PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Dodgers scored runs on a bloop single, fielders choice, wild pitch along with a Shohei Ohtani home run in beating the Pirates 8-6 to take the series at PNC Park Thursday night.




Mitch struggles again

For the fifth time in his last six starts, Mitch Keller gives up at least four runs in a start. The veteran righty needed 98 pitches (56 strikes) to last only four innings giving up five runs on seven hits with four walks and three strikeouts. Keller danced around trouble in the first getting help of a double play. After a 1-2-3 second, he allowed a one-out home run to Ohtani and two-run single to Kyle Tucker. In the fourth, after two outs, five straight baserunners as two runs scored.

In his last six starts, Keller’s ERA is 8.70.

Big 5th

Pirates scored four runs in the fifth inning as catcher Rafael Flores hit his first career MLB home run (440 feet) with one out. A two-out single by Nick Gonzales was followed by Brandon Lowe’s 16th home run and Spencer Horwitz’s single drove in Bryan Reynolds, who hustled out an infield hit.



Pair in 8th

Tyler Callihan, who didn’t start against the lefty after the two homer game Wednesday, tripled leading off the eighth inning, was brought in on a hustling double by Jake Mangum. Flores hit a sinking liner to right that Tucker dove for but couldn’t catch, ending in a 2nd RBI and cutting the lead to 8-6.

More robbery

For a second straight game Reynolds robbed a Dodgers player of a home run. This was in the third inning as the left-fielder backpedaled against the wall to prevent Mookie Betts from his seventh home run.

  • Dodgers starter Justin Wrobleski left in the fifth inning with a right hamstring contusion
  • Once promising starter Thomas Harrington struggled again at AAA, 1.2 innings, 5 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, strikeout, 2 HR allowed and the ERA is 6.90
  • RHP Justin Meis threw another scoreless inning, his AAA ERA down to 2.90. Meis has given up one earned run since May 10
  • High A Catcher Easton Carmichael (3rd round, 2025) hit his 10th HR and now 40 RBI
  • 21-year-old High A shortstop Yordany De Los Santos hit his 10th HR, 34 RBI
  • High A 3B Murf Gray hit his 9th HR in 19 games with High A Greensboro
