Pittsburgh Mayor-elect Ed Gainey announced Monday during a press conference that he has tested positive for COVID-19.
On a press call to announce his transition team Monday, Gainey said a rapid test came back "slightly positive." He is now waiting on a PCR test.
"This is why we need to protect one another," Gainey said. "This is why we have to make sure that we do everything possible to be there for their neighbors. This is important."
Gainey said he is asymptomatic, but learned of an exposure on Saturday and wanted to take a test.
