The Monongahela Incline that closed for renovations back on August 1 will reopen on Monday, March 6, 2023.

Pittsburgh Regional Transit says the $8.2 million project modernized mechanical controls as well as the electrical system.
Both the upper and lower stations were updated along with exterior lighting along the track.
The incline passed an inspection on Friday and staff will use the weekend to get used to the new system.
“The Mon Incline has served generations of Pittsburghers for more than 150 years and holds a special place in the hearts of locals and visitors alike,” said PRT CEO Katharine Kelleman. “These renovations will help preserve the incline’s historic charm and ensure that it’s able to safely and successfully operate for another 150 years.”
The iconic Pittsburgh landmark was built in 1870 and connects the South Side of Pittsburgh Mt. Washington.
The incline’s November reopening was delayed due to supply chain and deliver issues.
“We are tremendously grateful to the residents and businesses of Mt. Washington for their patience during this work,” Kelleman said. “We know how important the incline is to our hilltop neighbors.”
The Monongahela Incline will reopen at 5:30 a.m. on Monday morning and runs through midnight through Saturday.
It opens at 8:45 a.m. on Sundays, running through midnight.
