The Pennsylvania Superior Court upheld the sentence of a man convicted of shooting and injuring three people inside a Macy's store at the Monroeville Mall in February of 2015.
Thornhill targeted a man and shot him three times in the incident. In addition, he shot another man and a woman who were present with with their minor child.
All of the victims survived the shooting.
Tarod Thornhill, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, appealed his 15 to 30 year sentence, claiming the court didn't consider his mental health issues and age.
The court ruled his sentence is fair stating in the decision, "The trial court did not abuse its discretion in imposing consecutive sentences. It considered all the factors Thornhill now cites, and it did so in a thoughtful way. While it may not have given them the weight Thornhill contends it ought to have, that does not make the sentence excessive."
