Stacy Martin, the mother of Karns City quarterback Mason Martin, died Sunday in hospice care.
The 42-year-old was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer in 2019.
Stacy’s daughter posted a message on Facebook, announcing the passing of her mother. It said, in part:
It’s been incredible to see everything that she’s endured all these years, and the way she was able to do it all with a smile on her face. My mom constantly put others before herself, even when she needed the most help. She was loved by so many, and I can guarantee that the world will never be the same without her. I know for a fact that she will be watching over Mason, my dad, Sydney, and me.
McKenna Martin added that her mother is now able to rest after a long battle.
Just over a month ago, her son collapsed during a football game.
Mason remains hospitalized after suffering a brain bleed.
Mason’s dad updated his condition a few days ago:
Mason is back from surgery. The cranial flap was not put back on today. Dr. Nail said she was very torn because she wanted to reinsert the flap so badly for him, but the conditions just weren’t perfect. She said she could have made it work, but that’s just not good enough. The fact that she will only accept perfection for my son is just one of the many things I love about her. He is doing well and recovering. The plan for now is that we just wait until some time next week and try again. Thanks for all the prayers. One thing we have never felt throughout this is alone. I thank you all.
A GoFundMe is still up for those that want to help out the family.
