If you’re a fall foliage lover, this is your Super Bowl.
The weekly fall foliage report from the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Bureau of Forestry shows much of Southwestern Pennsylvania in the “best color” range.
That includes Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Armstrong, Lawrence, Washington and Greene Counties.
“Throughout the western region, red oak leaves have started to change and are adding a rusty color to the fall display,” the DCNR’s weekly report says. “In Butler County, the red maples that changed early are dropping leaves; however, red maples late to the party are still adding bright yellows and reds to the landscape.”
Leaf peepers will also see bright colors on Washington’s Trail, which goes through Butler and Lawrence Counties.
According to the report, colors in Westmoreland and Fayette Counties are starting to fade and Somerset is “past peak”.
