Shoppers will have another option for groceries in the East End.

Herky Pollack, with CBRE, and his team have announced that “The Fresh Market” is coming to the former site of Whole Foods Market along the 5800 block of Centre Avenue in East Liberty.

According to its website, “The Fresh Market is a destination for those looking to discover the best including convenient, restaurant-quality meals, hand-picked produce, premium baked goods, fresh-cut flowers, custom-cut meats and carefully curated offerings for holidays and special occasions.”

The Fresh Market began in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Whole Food moved to the 5700 block of Penn Avenue, leaving the space on Centre Avenue empty for a year and a half.

“This is a hugely transformative signing for Eastside and one that fully validates the strength of the shopping center, trade area, and the urban core of Pittsburgh.
This is a tremendous outcome for all of these stakeholders. We cannot wait until this opens in early 2025,” said Pollock.

Along with Whole Foods, Aldi, Trader Joe’s, East End Food Co-op and Target all operate businesses in the East End.

The Fresh Market is expected to open in 2025.

Fresh Market operates on location in the Pittsburgh area on Washington Road in Mount Lebanon.
