A bar in New Kensington has been ordered closed after a series of violent incidents, including a man accused of fatally shooting his brother.
A Westmoreland County judge has granted the district attorney’s injunction to close the Elks Lodge on 3rd Avenue.
The D.A.’s office says the Elks Lodge will remain closed for one year and “it created an environment that fostered criminal and disruptive behavior in the nearby community.”
District Attorney Nicole Ziccarelli filed the injunction after 46-year-old Jeffery Ballard, the bouncer of the Elks Club, was shot in the upper thigh outside the club where he bled out and died last December.
His brother, 38-year-old Steffon Ballard faces criminal homicide and other charges in the shooting.Jeffery Ballard was fatally shot outside the New Kensington bar last Dec.
