A New Kensington Police officer has resigned amid an investigation into excessive force allegations.
Officer Nathaniel Cochran has been on suspension since a violent incident last month that put a trespassing suspect in the hospital with serious facial injuries.
A police report of Anthony Delarosa's arrest says he flailed, resisted arrest and tried to bite Officer Cochran's leg.
Cochran responded with elbow strikes to Delarosa's face.
Cochran submitted his resignation last week and council approved it last night.
