Former Pitt quarterback Phil Jurkovec is being held on theft and receiving stolen property charges, after a truck was stolen from a local hospital.
Jurkovec is accused of stealing a box truck owned by Rental Time on Friday morning, as a driver pulled into AHN Wexford to pick up chairs and tables used at hospital function the night before.
Rental Owner Debbie Clager says, “I was shocked when we heard the name and looked him up.”
Clager adds they don’t know why he stole the truck.
She says when she was notified the truck had been stolen, she along with AHN and Cranberry Police were able to monitor its whereabouts using its GPS.
According to the criminal complaint, he vehicle was stopped outside Victory Church on Family Road and Jurkovec was taken into custody.
Jurkovec is charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, and being held in lieu of $25,000 bond at the Allegheny County Jail.
The 26-year-old Jurkovec played high school football for Pine-Richland and college at Notre Dame, Boston College and Pitt. Jurkovec transferred to Pitt for the 2023 season. He was benched as the starting quarterback and eventually switched to tight end.
In 2024, Jurkovec tried out for the Steelers during minicamp, but was not signed.
