A former New Kensington Police officer who is already being investigated for excessive force charges, is facing new allegations against him.
The Westmoreland County District Attorney's office says 25-year-old Nathaniel Cochran is being charged with obstruction and other crimes stemming from a 2024 traffic stop.
Prosecutors say Cochran told the woman he stopped on drug charges that he'd drop those charges if she helped him set up another suspect.
A series of text exchanges between the two followed and officials say he offered the woman a $1,000 in cash if she deleted their text history.
Investigators also say she visited Cochran's home twice where she was told not to worry about the charges.
Cochran resigned from the force last month after he was placed on leave for allegedly using excessive force during an arrest last summer.
