
A Pittsburgh restaurant with over 20 violations has been ordered closed by the Allegheny County Health Department.
Nepali Asian Restaurant on Brownsville Road in Carrick was hit with six violations considered “high risk”.
Those violations include evidence of “several food items found adulterated by insects” and “no evidence of sanitizing procedures.”
Fruit flies were found in flour (item thrown away), dead and “dried” German cockroach found in a pan of salt and a live cockroach found was found in a container of uncooked white rice.
Raw chick and pork were found thawing at room temperatures. Chicken was as 57 degrees and pork was temped at 61.
Whole potatoes in a pot of water on a stove were measured at 126 degrees, below to acceptable temperature of 135 degrees.
A bag of raw pork chops was observed dripping onto a crate of uncovered parsley.
The inspector said that there wasn’t any sanitizer or dish sop in the restaurant when the inspection started. Those items were bought during inspection.
