An observation area created earlier this week for the Fern Hollow Bridge collapse is closed indefinitely.
City officials say a contractor has started staging large pieces of equipment on Forbes Ave. and will continue to do so in the coming weeks. In the interest of safety, the observation area, along with the portion of Forbes Ave. leading up to the site, is now closed to all pedestrians and cars.
Tranquil Trail in Frick Park is closed within a 100 yard perimeter of the bridge. Undercliff Trail is also closed.
City leaders continue discussing how to best move forward following Friday's collapse. Tuesday, Pittsburgh City Council extended a Disaster Emergency Declaration an additional 90 days.
