
A school resource officer at Freedom is be applauded for his quick thinking on Wednesday after he heled a student who was choking
New Sewickley Township Police say Officer Richard Jones of the department was notified by staff of a student choking in the cafeteria.
Jones ran to the cafeteria, where he found a school nurse attending to the boy.
Jones gave the boy the Heimlich Maneuver, dislodging a plastic bottle cap that had been stuck in the boy’s throat.
The boy suffered no serious injuries.
Jones has been with New Sewickley for 15 years and has been with Freedom for the past three years.
He also is a CPR/First Aid Instructor that has taught children how to properly give CPR.
