A 17-year-old boy is charged with criminal homicide in the death of 15-year-old Dahvea Sparrow last weekend.
Lamar Seymour is accused of shooting and killing Sparrow late Saturday. Police say the victim was at a house party earlier that night.
Seymour is not in custody.
According to a criminal complaint, security footage captured three people exit a van on Knoll Street and approach Sparrow's car. One of the people who came from the van began fighting with Sparrow when shots were fired.
A witness told police they saw Seymour pull Sparrow from the car and then heard gunshots.
Sparrow was one of two teenagers killed in Beaver County over the weekend. 15-year-old Asaun Moreland was shot in Ambridge. 18-year-old Nasean Hunt was taken into custody in connection with Moreland's murder. Police are still looking for another suspect in the case.
During a news conference Wednesday, Beaver County District Attorney David Lozier said both the Ambridge and Aliquippa communities have been extremely forthcoming.
"They've been telling us who, what, when and where to a degree that we have not seen in a very long time," he said. "It's important that the thugs out there know that they don't have control of the citizens of Aliquippa anymore or the citizens of Ambridge. We are working together to bring the community back to a sense of justice."
He acknowledged rumors that the killings of Sparrow and Moreland are related, adding investigators are not making that connection at this time.
Nicole Sparrow, Dahvea Sparrow's mother, told reporters her community has kept her moving forward.
"I'm happy that they know who has done this, and my baby is going to get justice," she said. "My heart is broken, and I'm hurting. I don't know if I'm going to ever be okay, but in this moment right now, I'm just thankful for the love and support from everybody."
Lozier is urging the community to come forward with any information on Seymour's whereabouts.
"We ask for his family to tell us where he is, his family to work with his lawyer to arrange a safe surrender," he said. "We do not need this to end with another senseless loss."
