The Allegheny County Health Department has closed an on campus convenient store and issues a consumer alert for a Chinese restaurant on Forbes Avenue.
Dagu Rice Noodle in Squirrel Hill was hit with several violations during a recent inspection.
Bags of rice were found with live insects crawling in it and broth with chicken was found near a dish washing machine being held at 111 degrees.
The ACHD says it’s a repeat violation and food must be maintained at 135 degrees or higher.
Another repeat violation, a large plastic bin with noodles in water was observed at 56 degrees.
Must be 41 degrees or lower.
Raw chicken was found behind cooked buns inside a prep cooler, Employee seen in the basement prepping food, did not wash their hands, an electric ban saw, not used for food was seen with old meat and bone on it.
In total, there were 15 high, medium and low violations.
At CCAC, on the North Side, the 3-2 Go store on the Allegheny Campus was closed after inspectors found pests had chewed food in the back-storage area including cheese crackers, Cheetos and Gatorade bars.
Rodent droppings were found near a microwave and toaster that students use.
Evidence of chewed and eaten produced by rodents was also found in retail and storage areas, as well in a nearby cafeteria.
Droppings were found under cabinets, behind drink coolers and other places, including inside a toaster.
The store was also operating without a valid Allegheny County Health permit.
