You have one more year to get a Real ID before federal enforcement begins.
The deadline has been pushed back for years because of the pandemic, but now Real ID enforcement is just 365 days away.
That means on May 3, 2023, you'll need a federally accepted ID to do things like board a plan or enter a federal building, and that won't include a regular drivers license. TSA's Jerry Sparro.
"It improves the reliability and accuracy of state-issued identification documents. More importantly, it prevents and deters terrorists' ability to evade detection by using fraudulent identification."
It's not a requirement - you can also use things like a passport or military ID.
