An agency advocating for nursing homes says almost 60% of them could close in Pennsylvania if they don't get more funds.

Zach Shamberg of the PA Health Care Association says the pandemic, along with rising costs, insufficient funding and a staffing crisis is casing an access to care issue among seniors.
He adds if Medicaid reimbursement funding isn't included in the state's budget, nursing homes could start closing.
“That could create an access-to-care crisis in one of the oldest states, in terms of our population, in the entire country. That should alarm every single Pennsylvanian.”
More than 100,000 seniors, or adults, with disabilities currently need care. Shamberg says in 20-to-30 years, that number will climb to 1,000,000.
