Pennsylvania health officials say they're preparing for the next phase of the pandemic.
It doesn't mean ignoring COVID-19, but approaching it in a different way.
That's according to acting state health secretary Keara Klinepeter, who says Pennsylvania is positioned to move forward, while having the resources to pivot if cases start increasing again.
"Vaccines and therapeutic treatments are widely-available across the state. Businesses, schools and residents are open and have the tolls and knowledge they need to move beyond the current phase of the pandemic."
She says case counts statewide are at the their lowest since last August, while deaths and hospitalizations are also falling.
Klinepeter also noted the state has a number of COVID measures firmly in place, like a stockpile of PPE and no-cost COVID testing services in communities and schools.
According to the Associated Press, the CDC just outlined a new set of measures, including taking a break from wearing masks.
