Turnpike drivers--be advised. Operation Orange Squeeze is about to return.
Some of the construction trucks you'll see in Turnpike work zones won't necessarily have construction workers inside.
Instead, they'll be State Police Officers looking for speeders.
The Turnpike's Crispin Havener says it's to make sure road crews are safe.
And, you'll get a speeding ticket.
“You’re going through a construction zone, you see our vehicles, they’re running radar and checking and make sure you’re driving as you should and if they catch you, by the time you see the patrol vehicle, they already know the situation,” said Havener.
In 2023 when the program resumed after the pandemic, police issued over 430 citations.
Fines in an active work zone are doubled.
