104 million dollars. That’s how much the PA Turnpike lost in uncollected tolls last year.
State Senator Marty Flynn from Scranton noticed the Turnpike was converting to all-electronic tolling at the same time.
What a coincidence!
Millions of people without an E-Z Pass have about a 50% chance of driving the Turnpike free under the toll-by-plate system. Their license plate can’t be scanned or they simply don’t pay when the bill arrives in the mail.
Thursday on KDKA Radio, an impassioned Senator Flynn explained his common-sense proposal to stop the losses.

Flynn is a member of the Senate Transportation Committee and plans to introduce legislation to require a limited number of staffed lanes at the busiest toll plazas, among other things.
We support Senator Flynn’s efforts to keep E-Z Pass drivers from covering the cost of those who don’t play by the rules.
