Bill Peduto, who in a bid for a third term as Mayor of Pittsburgh lost the Primary Election to State Representative Ed Gainey, wrote a thank you letter to the City of Pittsburgh.
"I want to start this off with a heartfelt thank you. None of the progress we have made over the past eight years would have been possible without your support," wrote Peduto in his note titled "A heartfelt thank you."
Peduto also wrote that he inherited a broken city and is "leaving behind one that is far better."
In his letter, the Mayor referenced facing multiple crises and what he had hoped to accomplish with another term.
He congratulated Gainey and closed out his letter by stating "Being the Mayor of Pittsburgh was the dream of a lifetime, and you helped me achieve it. Not many people get to say that; and for that, I will be eternally grateful. I love you all and wish you and your family peace."
