With construction season getting underway, PennDOT is calling attention to driving safely in work zones.

From officers on-site to speed cameras, to signage, to crash trucks, PennDOT is always trying new things to encourage cautious driving through work zones.

PennDOT District 11's Cheryl Moon-Sirianni says those crash trucks are more useful than they'd like them to be.

"There are so many crash trucks hit across the state last year, they had problems finding parts to replace them in getting new ones. It's great that a crash truck works, but we don't want our crash trucks getting hit. We don't want anyone getting into accidents."

She added that the most-prominent factor in some of these crashes is speed. Those cited for going over 10 mph in a work zone will lose their license for 15 days.
