Will a COVID "Booster" shot be needed? Will it work? One local group is looking into it.
The University of Pittsburgh's School of Medicine is one of 12 sites throughout the U.S. selected to conduct the trial administering a third "booster" dose of COVID-19 vaccine to fully-vaccinated adults assessing safety and immune responses of a mixed-booster regimen.
In a press release, Dr. Judy Martin, of Pitt’s Center for Vaccine Research, says in part, "The study’s design is not to show whether we need booster shots, but to identify which vaccine combinations are safe and provide the most protection against the virus and its variants.
