UPDATE: ACHD says the restaurant is ordered closed (earlier, the Health Department had Proof listed under Consumer Alert)
A Consumer Alert has been issued for a bar and grill in Pittsburgh.
Proof Bar and Grill on the 700 block of Brookline Boulevard in Brookline was hit with a total of 15 violations during an inspection on Friday, June 21.
A “high-risk” violation observed by inspectors showed some cold holding food at unsafe temperatures.
Shrimp, cheese, bacon egg rolls, raw ground beef and more were found between 47 and 52 degrees, which can cause foodborne illness. Food must be held at 41 degrees or lower.
Eight of the violation were considered “medium-risk”.
Some of those include no date marking on prepared foods held over 24 hours, no working probe thermometer, a black, mold-like substance found in the ice machine and a chef seen handing “ready-to-eat” burgers with bare hands.
The establishment is also operating without a valid food permit and has unpaid civil penalties.
See the full inspection report and any updates to the Consumer Alert on the Allegheny County Health Department's website.
The PA State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement also found several violations including tap cleaning and fire violations.
