Pittsburgh City Council begins the new year with a new president.
Councilman Daniel Lavelle was chosen Monday to succeed Theresa Kail-Smith, who has served in the role since 2020.
Council also swore in two new council members, Bob Charland and Khari Mosley, representing Districts 3 and 9, respectively.
New City Controller Rachael Heisler was also sworn in, becoming the first woman to be elected to the position.
She succeeds longtime Controller Michael Lamb.
