A Pittsburgh man is accused of stealing hundreds of identities, using them to buy items he resold on social media.
Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday says 33-year-old Cornelius Tucker placed hundreds of online orders under the names and accounts of unsuspecting victims to purchase $100,000 in merchandise, picking up the items at Lowe's and Giant Eagle stores in Allegheny, Beaver, Washington, Westmoreland and Crawford counties.
Investigators say Tucker bought power tools, home security products and other items which he allegedly fenced to buyers at a discount on his Facebook page: Pittsburgh Stamps.
Tucker is facing more than 200 counts of felony identity theft and related offenses.
“This defendant placed hundreds of online orders, under the names and accounts of unsuspecting victims, then fenced the goods to buyers on Facebook,” A.G. Sunday said. “This arrest resulted from a meticulous investigation by our Organized Retail Crime Unit, which would not have been possible without a network of collaborating partners committed to stopping these sophisticated schemes.”
