A Pittsburgh area oral surgeon is also now a Jeopardy champion.
Dr. Christopher Ban won $13,000 on the episode that aired on Tuesday.
He was the only one to answer the Final Jeopardy question correctly.
“In 1896 new spider species were named for a wolf, a panther & a snake from a work published 2 years earlier by this man,” was the clue.
The correct answer was “Who is Rudyard Kipling” the author of the “Jungle Book”.
Ban tells KDKA Radio the Final Jeopardy clue was a sign. His brother Michael died in May 2022 at the age of 36.
Ban says they watched "The Jungle Book" growing up and Michael's nickname was the mongoose, saying he was going to kill the snake (cancer) when he was going for his radiation treatments.
Dr. David Spokane, an orthodontist in Beaver Falls took to Facebook to thank his “good friend.”
Spokane’s page says that in addition to them being proud of him winning, Ban plans to donate some of his winnings to the North Allegheny School Districts Rowing Association boathouse. He wants the boathouse to be named after his brother.
