Pittsburgh Police are investigating at least 10 reports of airbags stolen from vehicles around the area.
The airbags were stolen over the past two nights (Tuesday and Wednesday) from “certain Honda Civic models.”
Four airbags were stolen from cars in the Bloomfield area and an additional six were taken between Shadyside and Point Breeze.
Police are asking residents to make sure their vehicles doors are locked and windows are closed.
“In most of these recent incidents, the driver’s side windows were broken by thieves who were on intent reaching the steering column to take driver's side airbag systems,” Police said in a release. “With that in mind, it may also be helpful to purchase a steering wheel locking device - known as an anti-theft club - as an additional deterrent.”
Police say they believe the thefts are connected.
