Pittsburgh Public Safety says it is prepared to keep the city's streets safe during next week's presidential election:

“We are standing by, at the ready, ready to preserve everyone’s right to vote in this general election,” said Pittsburgh Public Safety Information Officer Cara Cruz.

She tells KDKA Radio police will monitor the situation and civil unrest or violence will not be tolerated.

“Always have to make those plans in advance and we have the ability with personnel to ramp up where needed, in terms on numbers, by tapping into all the different branches of the Pittsburgh Police Department,” added Cruz.

Cruz says it is precautionary measure, emphasizing there is no indication of any threats related to the election.

The ramp up begins on Monday, November 4, the day before Election Day.
